About

ABOUT

Nicole Markoff’s art and design practices cultivate works that navigate the analogous links between landscape and thought production, from a tantric/nondual perspective. She has recently been captivated by the notion of the foreign familiar, as much of her work is currently made on the road in places far from her home in northern California. She works with textiles as medium and subject, photography as process. Her current desire to be close to the land as the most reliable form, and bind breath to scape, guides much of her artwork.

Nicole holds an MFA in textiles from California College of the Arts (2012) and a BA from NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study (2000). She has been a resident of Brush Creek Ranch, UCross Ranch, the Headlands Center for the Arts, and the Jentel Foundation. Focusing mainly on her practice for the last four years, she has shown her design work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and her Outside Perspectives project is currently on view at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco. She also shows at Neon Raspberry in Occidental, California.
