BRUSH
Hair begets hair. Edo Salon, 2013
In one sense, hair is the mark and identifier. In another sense, hair is the mark maker. With regards to this specific site of the salon, hair becomes the contained geometry, or shape by which the face, and evolving and mobile expression, is contained. On another hand, hair is the tool by which, in its flexibility, we create a mark- be it expressive or utilitarian. It is in this reflection that these wall pieces, abstracted from calligraphy brushes and their cases, are made.
These brushes are constructed of cotton, wood, waxed linen, synthetic hair, copper and aluminum. All pieces range in the 14-16x18-24 size.
